A glint of steel catches your eye at the Otemachi Financial City Grand Cube. It’s the GROVE Sculpture, a captivating work by Richard Deacon, completed in 2015. The GROVE Sculpture isn’t just a static display. It’s designed to interact with its surroundings, the ground beneath, and the light filtering through. Deacon envisioned the sculpture as a “grove,” not just a cluster of tree trunks, but the interplay of light and space between them. The stainless steel surface, polished with a grinder, shimmers and shifts as you move. It creates a fluid dance of light and reflection. This fluidity contrasts beautifully with the solid steel structure. The GROVE Sculpture invites you to walk around, observe how the light transforms the surface from different angles. It’s a dynamic experience, changing with every step you take.
