High above us, taller than these buildings, the park’s grand fir trees watch over Solparken. Solparken is a small park near Råsundavägen in central Råsunda, Solna. That’s just north of Stockholm.
Around us stand large apartment buildings from the early 1900s. These buildings have significant cultural and historical value. Solparken was part of the new urban area that began construction around 1910.
In 2005, Solparken underwent a renovation. A new open water system was created. This system delays and cleans stormwater from Råsundavägen. The water then flows towards Råstasjön.
The water system is designed as a stone-lined stream. It flows down to a pond. The renovation was done to fit the old park. Tall fir trees dominate. They have grown taller than the surrounding residential buildings.
But Solparken has another claim to fame. The pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under Råsundavägen is in a Beck movie scene. It is from Erik Sandbergs gata to Solparken. The film is “Beck – The Weak Link.” The scene was filmed in the tunnel. You can see part of the park briefly before the scene cuts to another park.
Now, let’s look at another Solparken. This one is a well-visited playground with large grassy areas. It is at Malmövägen 58. This Solparken is popular with both adults and children. The large grassy areas are perfect for ball games and sunbathing. There is fixed and movable furniture like picnic tables.
This playground has a seesaw, climbing net, and a small slide. There is also a small trampoline. A wooden sculpture of an apple worm gave the park one of its nicknames: Äppelparken, or Apple Park.
But there is also another park called Solpark Ramsjöholm. It has approximately 140,000 square meters. Soltech Energy Solutions commissioned this park. It has an installed capacity of 11 MW. The solar panels produce around 11 GWh of electricity annually. That’s enough to power about 2,200 households.
This Solpark Ramsjöholm increases the share of solar energy. It contributes to the green transition. The solar park will be sold off. This aligns with Soltech’s strategy.
The site was chosen for its good solar energy conditions. It also has an accessible electricity grid connection. Besides electricity production, the solar park increases biodiversity. Sheep graze between the panels. This allows for more varied vegetation, insects, and bees. Ivy is planted around the park. This helps the fence blend into the green environment.
