A silent sentinel stands tall. It’s the imposing school building number 140 dominating Nedvu011bdovo nu00e1mu011bstu00ed. This isn’t just any square. It’s a place steeped in history. A place of remembrance.

Nedvu011bdovo nu00e1mu011bstu00ed holds a poignant tale. Before its current name it was known as Komensku00e9ho nu00e1mu011bstu00ed for years. It was named after Jan Amos Komensku00fd a significant figure in education and history. Then it briefly became Podolsku00e9 nu00e1mu011bstu00ed recalling Podolu00ed’s independent past before its incorporation into Prague.

But the square’s true heart lies in its namesake. MUDr. Milou0161 Nedvu011bd a courageous professor at Charles University. His life was tragically cut short. He was a pivotal resistance fighter against the Nazi occupation. Sadly he perished in a concentration camp for his brave actions. The square honors his sacrifice. His legacy echoes through the cobblestones.

The western side of Nedvu011bdovo nu00e1mu011bstu00ed showcases the Podolu00ed waterworks. This remarkable structure built in two phases. It stands as a testament to architectural ingenuity. Dr. Ing. Arch. Antonu00edn Engel designed both sections. They are connected by an elegant pipe bridge. A harmonious blend of functionality and design.

More than just buildings Nedvu011bdovo nu00e1mu011bstu00ed pulses with life. A memorial stands proudly in the park. It pays tribute to those who fought in the Prague Uprising of May 1945. The larger-than-life statue of a fighter silently guards the square. The inscription reads “To brothers fallen in Podolu00ed revolutionary fighters of May 1945”. A reminder of bravery and resilience.

A second school building number 101 is also situated here. A small playground lies in front. It offers a welcome space for children. It’s a vibrant contrast to the solemnity of the memorial. It’s a place where the past and the present intertwine.

The beautiful Paulownia trees in the park add to the square’s charm. Originally from East Asia they now grace this corner of Europe. Their delicate seeds once served as packaging material for Chinese porcelain in the 19th century. Their resilient nature reflects the spirit of the square itself.

Nedvu011bdovo nu00e1mu011bstu00ed isn’t just a place on a map. It’s a living story. It’s a blend of history. It’s a reminder of sacrifice and resilience. It’s a place where the past speaks volumes. It’s a space where the community thrives. It’s a unique square worth exploring. And remembering.
