Consider this: a seven-story pagoda rises majestically. It encloses an aviary. This is Yuen Long Park. It is more than just a park. It is a landmark of Yuen Long.

Yuen Long Park, formerly Yuen Long Town Park, opened on October 26, 1991. Cheung Yan-lung, chairman of the Regional Council, opened it. The park covers 7.5 hectares. This large park provides many recreational opportunities.

The park stands on what was once a natural woodland. This was Shui Ngau Ling in Yuen Long. Developers aimed to keep the existing landscape. They preserved as many trees as possible. Over 300 native trees still thrive here.

The 30-meter-high aviary pagoda gives stunning views. You can see Yuen Long Town from up there. Look further. You can see Tin Shui Wai, Ha Tsuen, and Ping Shan.

Yuen Long Park offers many facilities. There are football pitches for sports fans. A gateball court provides space for a different sport. Children’s playgrounds keep the young ones happy. Fitness stations encourage exercise. Public toilets offer convenience. The gateball pitch was the first in the Regional Council’s area.

Interestingly, Yuen Long Park houses a weather station. The Hong Kong Observatory runs it. This automatic station began operating on March 20, 2015. It constantly publishes temperature readings on the Observatory’s website.

The park is near several important locations. The Yuen Long Public Swimming Pool is close. So are the Yuen Long Police Station and the YLDSA Sports Grounds. The Yuen Long Town Hall stands nearby. The Yuen Long Stadium is also a neighbor.

Imagine filming here. Yuen Long Park is available for filming. One needs to apply with detailed information. This includes location, date, and activity nature. A synopsis and equipment list are essential. Public liability insurance is a must. Simple cases take seven working days. Complex cases might need ten or more days. Fees are required before filming.

Yuen Long Park is more than a green space. It is a community hub. It blends nature, recreation, and essential services. From its aviary pagoda to its weather station, it offers something for everyone. It is a place to relax. It is a place to play. It is a place to connect with nature.
