Did Padre Tito ever imagine the legacy he would leave? Paróquia Santo Antônio de Gopouva stands as a testament to his vision. Established in 1977, this vibrant parish has served the Gopouva community in Guarulhos for nearly fifty years. The original chapel, built under Padre Tito’s guidance, has witnessed the growth of Guarulhos. It has seen the city transform into a bustling hub, largely thanks to its international airport. Paróquia Santo Antônio de Gopouva didn’t just stand by. It grew alongside the city, expanding to include two more chapels: Nossa Senhora do Sion and São Judas Tadeu. These chapels are more than just additional buildings. They represent the expanding reach of faith and community within Gopouva. Currently, Father Edson Roberto dos Santos leads the parish as head priest, with Father José Miguel da Silva Filho serving as his vicar. The parish pulsates with activity. Sunday mass is celebrated four times to accommodate the large congregation. Weekday masses, adoration, and prayer groups fill the weekly calendar. The faithful gather for special masses, like the Mass for Healing and Liberation on the last Friday of each month. Paróquia Santo Antônio de Gopouva is more than a place of worship. It’s a hub of community life. In 2023, the parish launched a special celebration. They began commemorating their upcoming Golden Jubilee, set for 2027. This celebration, starting on the feast day of their patron saint, Saint Anthony of Padua, is a testament to their enduring faith. As you stand before Paróquia Santo Antônio de Gopouva, feel the energy of this vibrant community. The parish is a testament to the power of faith, community, and growth. It’s a living story of how a small seed, planted by Padre Tito, blossomed into a thriving spiritual home for the people of Gopouva.
