It’s housed in the former home of Japanese painter, Hitsuho Yamada, giving it a unique, intimate feel. Yamada, born in 1925 in Hosoyama, embarked on a unique path. After graduating from Tokyo University of Science, he could have pursued a career as a teacher. Instead, he followed his passion for art, becoming a pupil of Ichiro Tanida.
Yamada’s love for the Hosoyama area is evident in his work. His paintings capture the essence of this serene, natural landscape. The Yamadadori Soyama Bijutsukan showcases two distinct galleries. The first room features landscape paintings depicting Hosoyama’s original scenery. The second room houses a collection of both old and new works by Yamada, offering a comprehensive view of his artistic journey. Each piece exudes warmth and invites contemplation.
