Takenotsuka Junior High School, established on April 1, 1970, isn’t just any school. It’s a place where dreams take flight, where volleyball victories become legendary. The team’s third victory at the Kanto Junior High School Volleyball Tournament in 1978 cemented their place in the school’s history. Imagine the roar of the crowd, the tension of the final match. This victory wasn’t just about athletic prowess. It was a testament to teamwork, dedication, and the spirit of Takenotsuka. The school, nestled in Tokyo’s Adachi ward, at 4-12-13 Nishihokumangin, has seen its share of changes. In 2007, the student population dwindled to 185, a far cry from the 358 graduates in 1979. The declining birth rate led to a unique situation in 2011. Only one class entered Takenotsuka, prompting a change in the girls’ uniform in 2012 to attract more students. By 2013, three classes filled the halls again, and by 2015, the three-year groups each had their distinct colors at the school’s athletic events.
