Sengawa Christian Church is a place where everyone gathers every Sunday to worship. You can freely participate in the worship. Through worship receive love from God. That is our church’s wish. We eagerly await you.
The church was founded in December 1962. It started its mission in this area with the Mure Baptist Church as its mother church. Three years later it became independent. Today Sengawa Christian Church is part of the Japan Baptist Convention. It consists of about 330 Baptist churches throughout Japan.
The Sengawa Christian Church believes in the Old and New Testaments. They are the only words of God. Only those who are sure they have been saved by Jesus Christ are baptized. Infant baptism is not performed. Christ is central to the Sengawa Christian Church. All believers are equal here. There is no superior-inferior relationship. Politics and religion are separate. The church does not require membership fees or admission fees. Donations are entirely voluntary. You are welcome even if you do not donate.
Pastor Yamagishi Akira took office in October 2008. In 2018 Sengawa Christian Church celebrated his 10th anniversary. The church is involved in local outreach activities. It delivers food to those in need through food support.
Sengawa Christian Church conducts ceremonies for life’s milestones. These include weddings and funerals. The church’s theme for 2024 is Let’s spread the circle of prayer. Its scripture is Be zealous. Be fervent in the Spirit. Serve the Lord. Be joyful in hope. Patient in affliction. Faithful in prayer.
Praying to the Lord is an important mission of the church. We pray for everyone. The Sengawa Christian Church preaches the word of God. It is based on the 66 books of the Bible. Every Sunday is the Lord’s Day. We hold worship services. The sermons are central to these services.
The Sengawa Christian Church is a place to love and serve God and people. We share joys and sorrows. We pray together. We create a place where people are connected to the Lord. Each person grows spiritually. Each becomes a devoted member.
