Has anyone here considered how a university’s name can change its fate? Today we stand before Uczelnia Varsovia. It’s an institution with a history as intriguing as its modern mission. Uczelnia Varsovia began its journey as Collegium Humanum in 2018. It aimed for success through education.
Collegium Humanum quickly grew into an international private university. Campuses sprang up not only in Warsaw but also in Rzeszów and Poznań. Even Prague Bratislava and Andijan hosted branches. By 2023 Collegium Humanum boasted over 25000 students. Its MBA programs earned recognition. The university joined international educational forums. All seemed bright.
But shadows loomed. In 2022, allegations of being a degree mill surfaced. Newsweek magazine published reports that triggered lawsuits. By early 2024, investigations revealed widespread fraud. Seven members of the management faced arrest. The charges included running a criminal organization. The former provost faced nearly 100 charges.
The scandal implicated public servants and politicians. Many had obtained MBA degrees from Collegium Humanum quickly and cheaply. This raised questions about qualifications for key public positions. The government intervened.
In March 2024, authorities placed Collegium Humanum under compulsory administration. The university could no longer issue certificates or degrees. Students found themselves in limbo. The institution needed a fresh start.
In June 2024 Collegium Humanum rebranded itself. It became Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych Varsovia. This translates to University of Business and Applied Sciences Varsovia. The name change symbolized a commitment to reform. Magdalena Stryja a former protector of the university oversaw this transformation.
Today Uczelnia Varsovia faces the challenge of rebuilding its reputation. It must regain the trust of students faculty and the public. The university offers bachelor’s and master’s programs. These include management finance accounting psychology and law. Uczelnia Varsovia seeks to provide quality education and ethical leadership.
As we stand here remember that Uczelnia Varsovia’s story is still unfolding. It is a reminder that a name change alone cannot erase the past. Only dedication to integrity transparency and academic excellence can ensure a brighter future. The road ahead will be challenging but the pursuit of genuine education must continue.
