“Band”. That’s the nickname affectionately given to Colégio Bandeirantes by generations of students. Today we stand before this renowned educational institution. It has been shaping young minds in São Paulo since 1934.

Colégio Bandeirantes started as Ginásio Bandeirantes. It was located right here at Rua Estela 268. In 1944, educator Antônio de Carvalho Aguiar acquired it. He renamed it Colégio Bandeirantes. Aguiar also directed Colégio Liceu Panamericano. His contributions are remembered with a viaduct named after him on Rua Cubatão. It crosses Avenida 23 de Maio.

This location has seen its share of changes. In 1967, the construction of Avenida 23 de Maio led to the expropriation of some of the school’s land. This required adapting the existing facilities. By 1973, Block A and the Gymnasium were completed. This marked a significant expansion.

Colégio Bandeirantes has always been forward-thinking. In the 1980s, it introduced computer language teaching. This was well ahead of the curve. In the 1990s, the school updated its visual identity. A new logo was adopted.

More recently, in 2015, Colégio Bandeirantes implemented a new strategic plan. The STEAM project was incorporated into the curriculum. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. In 2020, construction began on a new tower. It was completed in 2022. The pandemic posed some challenges. In 2023, the school expanded to include Ensino Fundamental I. This coincided with the inauguration of the new tower.

Colégio Bandeirantes has a long history of academic excellence. It is known for preparing students for top universities worldwide. Its International Department offers guidance. They focus on increasing students’ competitiveness. Students have been accepted into Harvard, Stanford and Yale. Also Princeton, University of Pennsylvania and Columbia. The list goes on.

But Colégio Bandeirantes is more than just academics. It’s also committed to social responsibility. The school partners with NGOs. These include Instituto Ismart and Instituto Sol. They provide opportunities for low-income students.

This school has shaped the lives of about 50 thousand students. Colégio Bandeirantes continues to evolve. It embraces innovation. It remains dedicated to its students. It strives to make a positive impact on society. As we continue our tour, remember the legacy of “Band”. It is a place where tradition meets progress.
