“A youth activities complex?” you ask, your eyes scanning the impressive structure before you. This is Youth Square, a hub dedicated to Hong Kong’s vibrant young generation. Formerly known as the Hong Kong Centre for Youth Development, Youth Square is more than just a building.
Youth Square is owned by the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Government. Construction began in June 2001. It finished in November 2008. Youth Square opened its doors on March 6, 2010. Since then, the New World Facilities Management Company Limited manages Youth Square.
Imagine Youth Square as a launching pad. It is a place where young people explore their passions. Youth Square buzzes with energy and creativity. It is a space designed to inspire and empower.
Youth Square focuses on Music and Dance, Arts and Culture, and Community Engagement. The Glocal Fellowship Celebrity Salon took place here in April 2016. The Garden of the Artisans Festival happened in January 2017. Book Crossing events occurred in July 2017. These events show Youth Square’s commitment to diverse activities.
Have you heard of Y Loft? It is in Youth Square’s Main Block and Hostel Block. You can access it directly from the MTR Chai Wan station via Exit A. This makes it very convenient for travelers. Y Loft offers special rates. Youth organizations and non-profits can benefit. International Student Identity Card and International Youth Travel Card members also get discounts.
