Remember the old church of Chiadino? The Chiesa Cattolica Parrocchiale San Vincenzo De’ Paoli stands here now. It has a tale of faith overcoming obstacles.

In the late 19th century Trieste grew. The Chiadino area saw new buildings and more people. The faithful lived far from Sant’Antonio Taumaturgo. They needed a local church.

The religious leaders asked the Trieste municipality for help. But the city refused to provide help. The national question made things difficult between religious and civil authorities. Despite the setbacks the community decided to build a church themselves.

Construction began in 1890. The first stone was blessed by Bishop Giovanni Nepomuceno Glavina on July 19. Work stopped in 1892 because they ran out of money. The unfinished building became a place for worship. Regular religious services began.

In 1903 construction restarted. Giovanni Righetti and Enrico Nordio’s original design was partially reworked. The Chiesa Cattolica Parrocchiale San Vincenzo De’ Paoli was completed in 1905.

Bishop Francesco Saverio Nagl dedicated it on October 1. He named it after Saint Vincenzo de’ Paoli. In 1930 the main altar and bell tower were built. Bishop Luigi Fogar consecrated the church and altar on October 25.

The Chiesa Cattolica Parrocchiale San Vincenzo De’ Paoli has a Renaissance style. It features three naves. Inside there are interesting paintings.

In 1907 the church began its pastoral mission. It was partially independent from Sant’Antonio Taumaturgo. The parish was officially established on April 1 1908. It kept the name of San Vincenzo de’ Paoli. The first parish records date from this time.

Today the Chiesa Cattolica Parrocchiale San Vincenzo De’ Paoli serves many residents. The parish includes several religious sites. These include Mater Dolorosa and Nostra Signora di Lourdes. There is also Gesù Bambino.

Several priests lead the parish. They include Father Umberto Piccoli and Father Davide Lucchesi. The church publishes its service times online.

The Chiesa Cattolica Parrocchiale San Vincenzo De’ Paoli stands as a testament to faith. It shows what a community can achieve when they work together. It overcame financial and political obstacles. The church provides a spiritual home for thousands.
