In honor of Chief Joe Capilano, who led the Squamish people from 1895 to 1910, the college was aptly named. The original classes were held at West Vancouver Secondary School, a temporary home for the budding institution. Three years later, the permanent North Vancouver campus opened, a testament to the community’s dedication to providing quality education.
