Grotta Bruno’s geology consists of massive carbonates. These are from open platform deposits. They date back to the Upper Cretaceous to Upper Paleocene periods. The rock formations include Calcareniti del Molassa. Also, there are the Calcari del Carso triestino and Calcari di Monte San Michele.
The first survey of Grotta Bruno happened on July 26, 1959. Almerindo Brena from the GGCD – Gruppo Grotte Carlo Debeljak was the author. A later survey occurred on October 29, 1963. Pino Guidi from CGEB – Commissione Grotte Eugenio Boegan performed this.
