The Children’s Hospital, officially opened in 2011 thanks to generous funding from the Republic of Korea, has become an essential part of Vientiane’s healthcare system. Originally equipped with 70 beds, the Children’s Hospital has grown to encompass 18 divisions, four units, and two specialized clinics. These clinics address a range of critical pediatric needs, from surgery and allergies to complex conditions like blood diseases and cancer. The Children’s Hospital doesn’t just treat illnesses; it fosters children’s development, ensuring they have the best possible start in life. In 2020, the Children’s Hospital proudly reported significant improvements in its services, meeting five key criteria for service excellence. These include patient admissions, cleanliness, diagnosis, equal access to treatment, and the overall quality of health services. The hospital is deeply committed to patient satisfaction, regularly recognizing staff who receive positive feedback. The Children’s Hospital also understands the importance of accessible healthcare. They provide free treatment for low-income patients, ensuring that every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, receives the care they need. This commitment to equitable access aligns with the hospital’s broader vision to be a modern, high-quality facility meeting international health standards. The Children’s Hospital’s dedication to continuous improvement is evident. They have a comprehensive development plan extending to 2030, aiming to expand their services and further enhance patient care. In 2019 alone, the hospital treated almost 94,000 children in outpatient clinics and admitted over 64,000 for emergency treatment.
