High on the Dreimarkstein stands a sign. It marks the meeting point of three districts. The Dreimarkstein a 454-meter high hill is located on the border of Vienna’s Döbling and Hernals districts. The popular Wienerwald restaurant Häuserl am Roan sits on this road a short distance from the peak. It offers a perfect place to rest and enjoy the view after a hike. This restaurant is in Vienna not Lower Austria.
A family-friendly hike leads up to the Dreimarkstein. It starts in Sievering a historic winegrowing village in Vienna’s 19th district. Follow the red-marked trail. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Neustift am Walde. Its vineyards spread across the landscape. The hilly scenery of the Wienerwald extends into the distance. Alternatively you can reach the summit by car or bus line 43A.
Mountain bikers also enjoy the Dreimarkstein. The Obere Roan trail offers a smooth ride through the woods. It provides scenic viewpoints over the northern Vienna Woods. The trail ends near the Wurzel Trail. From there bikers can choose their descent. Or they can continue on the Hameau trail towards Exelberg.
