Chinese activists intercepted the truck in Guangzhou. To ensure the dogs’ safety, 121 of them were taken to a clinic in Shenzhen. Many members of Karuna Rescue volunteered there. The dogs were in bad shape. They suffered from distemper and parvo. They had various injuries.
After the rescues found homes, some volunteers continued working together. In June 2018, another truck heading to the Yulin festival was stopped. This happened in Changzhi, Shanxi province. 77 dogs were brought to Shenzhen. Karuna Rescue took responsibility for 56 of them.
Karuna Rescue helps abandoned and stray animals every day. They finance their recovery. They find them new homes. Animals are abandoned daily. Therefore, the association always needs funds. These funds support the rescued dogs until they are adopted.
