The cornerstone blessed by Pope John Paul II itself whispers tales. This is the Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej in Józefów near Legionowo. Its story isn’t just brick and mortar. It’s a testament to faith perseverance and community.

The Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej wasn’t built overnight. It began humbly. In 1986 Father Jerzy Dębrowski a vicar at a Legionowo parish repurposed a house from Ciechanów as a chapel. This small chapel became the seed of a larger vision. On August 11 1987 Cardinal Józef Glemp established a pastoral center here. It quickly evolved into a quasi-parish by March 1 1988. The official parish the Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej was finally erected on April 23 1997. This was a significant event separating it from existing parishes in Legionowo Nieporęt and Warsaw’s southern districts.

The construction of the church itself is a saga. Initially designed by Tomasz Dubrawski the plans were later refined by Barbara Olszewska. Kazimierz Kowal served as the construction supervisor. Building began September 1 1998. The cornerstone blessed by Pope John Paul II on June 13 1998 was laid by Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk on August 21 1999. Bishop Stanisław Kędziora blessed the church walls on June 3 2001. A new marble altar consecrated by Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk during the August 22 2002 feast day added to the church’s beauty. The church’s consecration finally occurred on August 22 2004.

Between 2007 and 2010 a new parish house replaced the old wooden chapel. Architect Zbigniew Buchner designed this building. It was consecrated by Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk on November 7 2010. The Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej serves the communities of Józefów Kąty Węgierskie Michałów-Grabina and Wola Aleksandra. It stands as a beautiful example of faith and community.

From its humble beginnings as a repurposed house to its current magnificent form the Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej has endured. It reflects the unwavering devotion of its parishioners. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith. More than a building it’s a vibrant community center. The Parafia Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej continues to serve and inspire. It’s a beacon of hope in the heart of Józefów.
