Whispers of faith echoed through Wołomin as the community yearned for a spiritual home. The story of Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Polski began in 1980. Reverend Jan Sikora, a visionary priest, embarked on a mission. He sought permission to build a church for the growing “Lipińska” housing estate. Three years later, his persistence bore fruit. The authorities granted approval, marking a turning point for the faithful. In September 1984, construction began on a modest brick chapel. Dedicated to Mary, Queen of Poland, the chapel included a vital catechetical center. A year later, on September 1, 1985, Bishop Jerzy Modzelewski consecrated the chapel. This humble structure became a beacon of hope. Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Polski officially emerged on September 1, 1986. Cardinal Józef Glemp decreed its establishment. Land was allocated from the existing parishes of Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej and Świętej Trójcy in Kobyłka. The next chapter unfolded in 1987 with the construction of a new church. Designed by architect Stanisław Marzyński, the building promised a grander space for worship. On May 3, 1989, Bishop Marian Duś blessed the church walls. He laid the cornerstone, symbolizing the community’s unwavering faith. Christmas Day 1993 witnessed the first mass in the still-unfinished structure. Finally, on December 13, 2009, Archbishop Henryk Hoser consecrated the completed Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Polski. The church stands today as a testament to the dedication of those who built it. It serves a vibrant community of 10,000 faithful from Wołomin and parts of Kobyłka. The current pastor is Father Grzegorz Mioduchowski, who assumed his role in 2022. He follows in the footsteps of Father Józef Kamiński (1986-2012) and Father Zygmunt Podstawka (2012-2022). Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Polski continues to nurture faith and community. It offers a variety of activities, from Akcja Katolicka to a vibrant youth choir. The church stands as a symbol of hope, perseverance, and the enduring power of faith in Wołomin.
