This two-story structure, with its light perched atop the roof, stands as a unique beacon among Hong Kong’s lighthouses. In 1966, Cape Collinson Lighthouse underwent a significant renovation. The old structure wasn’t demolished. Instead, it was cleverly integrated into the new design, with an added upper floor. The original ground floor, built on a granite plinth, once housed the lighthouse keeper and his family. A charming anecdote shared by the late James Deacon, Superintendent of Lights, tells of a keeper’s wife giving birth at Cape Collinson. Years later, her son followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a lighthouse keeper himself.
