Created in 2020 by Petr Váňa, the Naděje, Láska a Víra sculpture stands before us. The Láska, Víra, Naděje sculpture also goes by the name Sculpture in Prague on Krejcárek. This sandstone sculpture resides on Novovysočanská Street. It is located in Libeň, a part of Prague 9. Geographically, it’s situated on the Prague Plain.
Installed on March 16, 2020, the Láska, Víra, Naděje sculpture sits in a small park. This park is near five new apartment buildings on Krejcárek. It serves as a wish for the people living there and nearby. These three large blocks of Božanov sandstone are about 3 meters high. Symbolically, they represent sails filled with wind. They were created using a cutting technique.
Each sail is symbolically guided by one of the author’s principles. Each represents one of three wishes or prayers of the author. These are Naděje, Láska, and Víra. So it is a stone representation of this idea. The rough blocks of stone for the Láska, Víra, Naděje sculpture were quarried in August 2019. They weighed approximately 36 tons.
The first stone is Naděje or Hope. It points upwards and is the largest. The middle stone is Láska or Love. It has a smooth, warm heart and is medium-sized. The third and smallest stone is Víra or Faith. It symbolically “crouches” behind Hope and Love. The front surfaces of the stones also have outlines of female forms. They are plastically cut to capture the play of light and shadow well. The Láska, Víra, Naděje sculpture is accessible all year round.
