“Nothing compares to seeing a shark for the first time.” That’s the motto here at Shark Explorers. I can tell you all about this dive shop. It is your gateway to extraordinary underwater adventures.

Shark Explorers is located in Cape Town. More precisely it is in Simon’s Town, a mere 30 minutes from the city center. This location gives you access to some of the planet’s most biodiverse coastal habitats. Morne Hardenberg and Stephen Swanson have vast experience with sharks. They honed their skills with Great White Sharks for over a decade in Gansbaai and Mossel Bay.

Shark Explorers offers customized predator-based expeditions. These expeditions take you to exciting dive locations in South Africa, the Bahamas, and worldwide. Shark Explorers will help you plan your ultimate shark experience. They ensure you are at the right place at the right time. This gives you the best chance to encounter your shark of choice.

Shark Explorers boasts a fleet of two boats. There is the Shark Explorer 2 and the Shark Explorer. Shark Explorer 2 is a 35ft GeeCat. It has twin 300hp low emersion 4 stroke Suzuki engines. It is custom-built for white shark cage diving. The boat offers a five-star platform. It is equipped with a toilet, hand basin, and change room. An outside freshwater shower and a top view deck are available. The view deck is perfect for shark viewing. Shark Explorer is a 9m Butt Catt. It has twin 200hp 4 stroke Suzuki engines. It was designed for open ocean conditions. It provides stability in choppy seas. This vessel has a top-of-the-range Garmin navigation system and radar. Onboard is a toilet and ample space for extra gear. It features a custom-fitted dive rack. This makes it well-suited for diver comfort.

Shark Explorers provides unique diving opportunities. Skilled divers can experience a variety of sharks. You can enjoy a stunning dive with Sevengill Cow Sharks. They live in the kelp forests along the Cape Peninsular. These sharks are formidable predators. They hunt seals, other sharks, and fish. But they are not known to threaten divers. These sharks exhibit cooperative hunting. This behaviour earned them the nickname “wolves of the sea”.

Shark Explorers also offers Blue and Mako Shark diving. This dive takes place in the open pelagic waters. Encounters with Pilot Whales, False Killer Whales, and Orcas have occurred. The visibility is normally excellent out in the deep. This makes diving with these sharks very special.

Great White Shark diving is also an option. Shark Explorers has a permit to run these trips in False Bay. The dive takes place from Simon’s Town. The boat travels to Seal Island. It sits in the middle of False Bay near Muizenburg beach. This area is a hotspot. Great White Sharks predate on seals here. Seal Island hosts around 50000 seals. The sharks hunt the seals as they come and go from the island.

Shark Explorers is committed to safety and conservation. They limit the impact on sharks. They enhance your personal experience. Dives are for small groups. They provide a dive briefing and shark presentation. Shark Explorers ensures an unforgettable and educational experience. They share their love for these animals. They strive to make you feel that the natural world is important. It is valuable, beautiful, wonderful, an amazement, and a pleasure.
