This island, accessible only by boat, remains unconnected to the mainland or other islands by road. From spring to autumn, the Waxholmsbolaget ferries shuttle passengers between Hästholmen, Vaxholm town, and Stockholm city. However, during the winter months, Hästholmen becomes a secluded retreat, accessible only to the most adventurous souls. It’s important to note that this Hästholmen is not to be confused with another island duo, Stegesund-Hästholmen, also within Vaxholm Municipality, but located about 8 kilometers northwest.
