In 1983, the same year the first residents moved into Discovery Bay, the Discovery Bay International School (DBIS) opened its doors. Initially, just three students learned at the Discovery Bay Residents Club. DBIS has grown significantly since those humble beginnings. Discovery Bay International School is located on Lantau Island, in the serene yet bustling community of Discovery Bay. It’s just a short ferry ride from Central and close to both Tung Chung and Sunny Bay. This prime location provides convenient transportation and easy access to Lantau’s natural beauty. The school caters to students aged 3 to 18. Discovery Bay International School offers a unique blend of the English National Curriculum, adapted for its international student body. Discovery Bay International School was the first school in Hong Kong to introduce forest and beach schools to its early years curriculum. This innovative approach has since expanded into the primary curriculum. The school also offers the Mini and Junior Duke Awards to its primary students. Older students can participate in The Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) program. DBIS has three well-equipped campuses. The Early Years campus is situated near Discovery Bay Plaza. The Primary and Secondary campus is adjacent to S.K.H. Wei Lun Primary School and features a central sports pitch. The Sixth Form campus is in Discovery Bay’s North Plaza. Discovery Bay International School joined the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) in 2010, solidifying its commitment to international education. The school boasts a diverse student population, representing around 50 nationalities. This multicultural environment fosters a global perspective and prepares students for a connected world. From its modest start with three pupils, Discovery Bay International School has become a thriving educational hub, deeply embedded in the Discovery Bay community.
