The parish was officially installed on November 9 2012. A significant event in the area’s history. The founding stemmed from the immense size of the Paróquia Santa Luzia dos Campos Elíseos. Father Paulo Crozera played a vital role. He was responsible for the pastoral care of two sectors. He brought them together fostering unity and community spirit. This led to the establishment of a dedicated pastoral area named after Dom Luciano Mendes de Almeida.
The growth of the area around Paróquia São Joaquim e Santana demanded a new parish. The community grew rapidly. This required more resources and space. The creation of Paróquia São Joaquim e Santana was a natural response to this expanding need.
It was a process. Many discussions happened. Lots of work went into planning. The final step was an installation mass. Dom Airton José dos Santos presided over this event. Father Paulo became the first parish priest.
Paróquia São Joaquim e Santana now boasts several communities. These include Comunidade São Joaquim e Santana itself. There’s also Comunidade Sagrado Coração de Jesus. Comunidade Santa Rita de Cássia serves the Parque Tropical area. Comunidade Nossa Senhora da Libertação supports the Jardim Santa Lúcia community. Comunidade São Paulo Apóstolo and Comunidade Santo Antônio de Sant’Anna Galvão are also part of the parish. Lastly Comunidade Santa Maria Madalena Postel completes this network of faith and support.
