Gazing upon Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, one might sense a ripple of history, a quiet echo of faith’s journey. Harvest Christian Fellowship Church wasn’t always in Washington D.C.. Its roots trace back to 1985 in Southern California. Pastor Jim O’Keefe, serving under Pastor Greg Laurie at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, felt a pull towards the nation’s capital. He answered this call, relocating his family to Northern Virginia and initiating a humble evening Bible study. This small gathering blossomed into Harvest Christian Fellowship of Greater Washington, D.C.. Initially, the church convened in various temporary locations. A significant milestone arrived in 1996. The fellowship acquired a permanent home at Isaac Newton Square in Reston, Virginia. This building provided a dedicated space for worship, fellowship, counseling, and classrooms. Interestingly, it still serves as Trinity Church today. Leadership transitions marked the church’s evolution. In 2012, Jim O’Keefe stepped down, passing the torch to his son, Tommy O’Keefe. Jim then embarked on a new ministry, Equipping The Saints – 412. His focus shifted to mentoring pastors and teachers nationwide. Tommy O’Keefe, driven by a mission to reach the inner city, left his position in 2014. He moved his family to Washington D.C. to serve through Bible studies and urban ministries. This marked a turning point for Harvest Christian Fellowship. The church’s name changed to Calvary Chapel Reston Station. This reflected its affiliation with the Calvary Chapel Association of Churches. After a brief interim, Pastor Sean Adinig assumed leadership in 2015. He shepherded the congregation until 2022 when he accepted a new calling at a different Calvary Chapel. In a final twist, Trinity Church from Virginia Beach moved into the Isaac Newton Square location. The legacy of faith continues in this space, albeit under a new name.
