Burg Denstedt a historic castle boasts origins in the 13th century. Its oldest parts include the tall round keep topped with a Baroque onion dome. Originally a water castle this medieval fortress transformed into a residential palace in 1699. The Free Barons of Lincker and Lützow oversaw this conversion.

Intriguingly remnants of Renaissance wall paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries survive. These paintings offer a glimpse into the castle’s rich past. The castle opens annually on Whit Monday. It is also accessible during the Open Monument Day. This event occurs on the second Sunday of September.
