A gleaming modern structure stands before you. This is Radnice Praha 12. It’s not your typical town hall. This building is a testament to Prague’s forward-thinking spirit. It replaced an older town hall demolished in the 1980s.

Radnice Praha 12 serves the municipal district of Prague 12. This area includes Cholupice Kamyk Komorany Modrany and Točná. It’s a bustling district with a rich history. Before 1974 Modrany was a town in its own right. The new town hall’s design is inspired by Modrany’s past. For years a sugar factory stood on this very spot. The building’s cube-like design is a nod to sugar cubes. Clever isn’t it?

The architect Jana Mastíková of the Czech studio LOXIA designed the Radnice. Construction began in June 2019. The project used Building Information Modeling BIM. The project faced some delays. Soil contamination and asbestos removal added months to the timeline. The total cost was approximately 503 million crowns excluding VAT. The city of Prague provided a substantial loan.

Radnice Praha 12 isn’t just offices. It houses a restaurant a cafe and shared workspaces. The entrance hall displays local art. There’s even a rooftop terrace offering stunning views. Modernity meets practicality here. The building incorporates a photovoltaic power system. It also has an underground rainwater harvesting system. This water is used for landscaping in Prague 12. Underground parking is available for employees and tenants. Visitors can also find convenient parking with electric vehicle charging stations.

The Radnice officially opened in July 2021. A public open house was held in September 2021. Today this modern building stands as a symbol of renewal and progress. It’s a functional hub for the community. It’s a beautiful landmark in Prague 12. It embodies the district’s unique past and bright future. Radnice Praha 12 is much more than just a town hall. It’s a vibrant space that reflects the spirit of this vibrant part of Prague.
