Ready to explore a spiritual landmark? Right here stands Faith Sanctuary. It is more than just a building. Faith Sanctuary is a vibrant community. This sanctuary’s story is one of faith, perseverance, and growth.

Our story begins with F. Wesley McKenzie. He was born in Jamaica in 1929. McKenzie felt a longing for more of God. This desire led him on a journey. He sought spiritual fulfillment far from home.

In 1967, McKenzie migrated to Toronto. He sought higher education with his family. They joined the First United Pentecostal Church. McKenzie obtained degrees from York University and Wilfred Laurier University. Education was always a priority.

A job transfer in 1971 led the family to Weston U.P.C. The church was without a pastor. McKenzie stepped up. He became the Sunday morning speaker. Eventually, he agreed to become the pastor.

The early years were challenging. Most members left. Only one elderly sister remained. She recruited children for Sunday School. One of these children became the first convert. Her mother soon followed. Friends who witnessed the baptism formed a new foundation. God had promised this.

McKenzie spearheaded Sunday School outreach programs. The congregation quickly outgrew their space. They relocated to a nearby movie theatre in 1985. Faith continued to grow.

In 1997, another relocation became necessary. Miraculously, they acquired the present location at 1901 Jane St. The church adopted a new name. It would reflect its character. “Faith Sanctuary” was chosen.

McKenzie was ordained in 1979. He taught at Apostolic Missionary Institute. He served on the Ontario District Board. He also traveled to mission fields. He was a mentor to many. Some are now in ministry themselves.

After battling cancer, McKenzie passed away in 2003. His sons took up the mantle. The elder son became Senior Pastor. The younger became Assistant Pastor.

In 2023, Pastor Granville McKenzie retired. He had served Faith Sanctuary for 51 years. Pastor Adrian Peel was installed as the new Senior Pastor.

Faith Sanctuary continues to thrive. It promotes biblical literacy. The church creates a community of love. It shares the gospel. They engage in secular life. Faith Sanctuary extends God’s reign in society.

Faith Sanctuary believes in the dignity of every human being. Everyone is made in God’s image. The church offers various ministries. These include daily devotions and Bible studies. They also provide prayer and life groups.

Faith Sanctuary also has a global vision. They aim to have a world-class digital presence. They support church communities in Canada and overseas. The ministry model is to feed Canada to feed the world.

As you stand here, remember the journey of Faith Sanctuary. From humble beginnings to a thriving community. It is a testament to faith and perseverance. It is a place where everyone can become their best.
