“To love God, love people, and make disciples.” That’s the mission of Glenbrook Baptist Church. But there’s a story behind those words. Glenbrook Baptist Church started in 1959. Land was purchased in King Street, Glenbrook. Glenbrook was a growing suburb in the lower Blue Mountains. It lies west of Sydney.
By 1963, Springwood Baptist Church was ready. They had enough money and members. They began building the church body and the building itself. The original church building officially opened on February 15, 1964. Rev. J.R. Strugnell became the first full-time minister. He started his ministry on July 1, 1964.
Glenbrook Baptist Church has been a constant presence since then. It is a pillar in the Glenbrook community. Glenbrook Baptist Church recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Glenbrook Baptist Church warmly welcomes everyone in the community. All ages, nationalities, and backgrounds are welcome. It is a place where everyday people find forgiveness. Glenbrook Baptist Church has many groups meeting regularly. They meet for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. There are also art and craft groups. A large community crafting group meets monthly. They make items for Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child shoeboxes. Glenbrook Baptist Church also hosts Wrinkles and Giggles monthly. It is for older members of the church and community.
