Contemplate this: a place dedicated to something we often take for granted. That place is the H2OPE Centre. It is Hong Kong’s Water Resources Education Centre. This centre is all about water. It aims to teach everyone about cherishing this vital resource.

The H2OPE Centre wasn’t always here in Tin Shui Wai. Previously, it resided in the Water Supplies Department’s Mong Kok office. In 2019, it moved to this new location with a fresh design. The move signified a big step for water conservation efforts. The Water Supplies Department wanted to enhance public education.

The exhibition area is now much larger. It has increased 1.4 times to 720 square metres. This bigger space allows for more information about water resources. The H2OPE Centre now features twelve exhibition zones. These zones contain over 50 exhibits related to our daily lives.

One of the highlights is the 3D dome theatre. It presents animated movies about different water resource issues. The dynamic effects make learning fun and engaging. Interactive games also deepen understanding of water resources. You can even see live demonstrations of water recycling plants within the H2OPE Centre.

The H2OPE Centre plays a vital role. It supports campaigns like “Let’s Save 10L Water 2.0”. This campaign encourages everyone to save ten litres of water each day. Saving water is crucial given how precious it is. The campaign includes competitions like the “Innovative Water Efficient Showerhead Design Competition”. This sparks creativity in water-saving product design.

Fishing is a popular activity in Hong Kong’s reservoirs. At the H2OPE Centre, you can experience a digital version of this. The interactive game simulates fishing while teaching about regulations. It turns an educational topic into an amusing game.

The H2OPE Centre also highlights biodiversity. Through motion sensing technology, visitors learn about water catchments in Hong Kong. Simple animations make it educational and fun.

Guided tours are available at the H2OPE Centre. Groups can easily book these tours online. The H2OPE Centre is open to all during its operating hours.

So, remember the H2OPE Centre. It is a place where learning about water becomes an adventure. It is a place where you can have fun. Most importantly, it is a place where you can learn the importance of cherishing water.
