Founded in 2004 the Boxverein Weimar is more than just a boxing club. It’s a pillar of the Weimar community. This club resurrected a rich boxing tradition in Weimar. It has become one of Thuringia’s most successful boxing clubs. Their youth program is exceptional. They boast three training locations. The Boxverein Weimar emphasizes experienced trainers and high-quality training. Team spirit and camaraderie are key. Success is important but relationship building is even more crucial. They aim to make boxing fun and foster a strong sense of community.
The Boxverein Weimar isn’t just about physical fitness. It’s about personal development too. They offer academic support for children and teenagers. This helps them improve their school performance. The program runs daily at different locations. A sports social worker connects youth sports with youth social services. This was funded by Aktion Mensch for three years. Now the Boxverein Weimar collaborates with another organization.
The club has celebrated remarkable achievements. Savina Sennewald a rising star was named Sportswoman of the Year 2023. Murad Mukaliev was honored as the Youth Sportsman of the Year 2022. He’s been undefeated for two years winning every competition. He successfully defended his German Junior Champion title in 2021 and 2022. The club also achieved success at the German Cadets Championship in 2023. They brought home medals and a strong fifth-place finish. Another pair of young athletes Murad Mukaliev and Savina Sennewald won the German Junior Championship title in Wittenberg. Savina won her second title Murad his third.
The Boxverein Weimar also holds regular events. They host the Sparkassencup a boxing tournament. It takes place over a weekend. There are several rounds. The club takes pride in its inclusive approach. Almost three-quarters of its young members come from immigrant families. The club provides a supportive environment. It helps them develop their identities and build a sense of belonging. It promotes values like tolerance and diversity. It offers a safe space.
