Construction commenced on February 28, 2019. The original completion date was December 30, 2023. The entire project cost about $847 million.

Environmental concerns were a priority. The project was carefully assessed. Measures were taken to minimize noise and dust. Water spraying was used. On-site runoff was treated. The new stations were equipped with deodourisation units. Exhaust fans had acoustic louvres.

The project also focused on waste management. Construction waste was reused whenever possible. Inert waste was sent to public fill reception facilities. Non-inert waste went to landfills.
