Two of the earliest ranches, “Sítio do Mandú” and “Sítio do Padre Inácio,” still stand today, preserved as historical landmarks by the “Instituto Brasileiro de Patrimônio Cultural.” Cotia officially became an independent municipality on April 2, 1856.
