From its humble beginnings in 1980 Meadowridge Baptist Church has been a beacon of faith in Cape Town. It began as a church planting initiative. This led to the establishment of a fellowship. Later it became Lakeside Baptist Church in 1983. The church’s dedication extended beyond its immediate community. In 1988 as part of its 25th anniversary Meadowridge Baptist Church started a work in the Kirstenhof/Tokai area. This resulted in the formation of Mountain View Baptist Church in 1991. A significant event occurred in 1993. The two churches Lakeside and Mountain View amalgamated. They chose to be known as Mountain View Baptist Church. For many years services were held in various locations. This changed in 1999. Both morning and evening services moved to the Lakeside Chapel. This chapel had been purchased in 1998. It was extensively renovated and redecorated. The church’s mission statement reflects its core values. It focuses on living out the teachings of Jesus. It emphasizes worshipping God developing believers caring for people presenting the gospel and being a base for world mission and social upliftment. Today Meadowridge Baptist Church continues its vital role. It serves as a spiritual center and a pillar of the community.
