“Lost opportunities” lamented a former student outside Escola Estadual Sérgio Milliet da Costa e Silva. He wasn’t referring to his academic performance. He was talking about the school’s covered sports court. Apparently, it’s a fantastic facility. Escola Estadual Sérgio Milliet da Costa e Silva, located at Rua Jurubatuba, 571 in Vila Pires, Santo André, offers a range of educational levels. From fundamental to médio, students here have access to resources like computers, a multi-functional printer, and internet access. And there are tablets. But our nostalgic former student, let’s call him Marco, never got to enjoy a newly revitalized pool. Nor a state-of-the-art digital library. Escola Estadual Sérgio Milliet da Costa e Silva does have some great features. Multiple television sets, two sound systems, and even a digital whiteboard. A well-equipped auditorium and a covered sports court complete the picture. Marco’s regret, however, highlights the ever-evolving nature of institutions. What exists today may not have been there yesterday. What will be added tomorrow remains unknown. Marco’s wistful look at Escola Estadual Sérgio Milliet da Costa e Silva serves as a poignant reminder. We should appreciate what we have while we have it. Who knows what the future might bring?
