Curious about a sanctuary nestled within a school? This is the Tak Sun School Holy Family Chapel. It is also known as \u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802. This small chapel resides within the Tak Sun School. The school is located at 103, Kotewall Road in Kowloon Hong Kong.
\u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802 is not just any chapel. It is a Catholic chapel. It falls under the Kowloon尖沙咀 (Tsim Sha Tsui) 彌敦堂區 (Nathan Parish) district of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese. The chapel is managed by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Also the Lay Dominicans oversee it.
But how did \u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802 come to be? The chapel was built in 1994. It provides a space for students to pray during breaks. The chapel also welcomes outside parishioners.
In 2014 the chapel held a special thanksgiving mass. It was on December 28 for the Holy Family feast. This mass supported the Church’s focus on families. It also prepared for the 2015 World Synod of Bishops. Then Auxiliary Bishop of Hong Kong, Stephen Lee Bun Sang, led the service. He is now the Bishop of Macau.
In 2016 \u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802 hosted another special event. It was a Mass for Blessed Bishop Álvaro del Portillo’s feast day on May 12. Four locations in Hong Kong and Macau held this Mass. The Mass at \u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802 began at 6:30 PM. The presiding priest spoke about Jesus uniting humanity with God through prayer. He also spoke of Bishop Álvaro’s work. He encouraged people to offer their work to God. He urged them to rely on God. He also asked them to be selfless.
\u5929\u4e3b\u6556\u8056\u5bb6\u5c0f\u5802 also celebrated Saint Marcellin Champagnat. It was on June 26, 2016. This was the founder of the Marist Brothers. Twenty-six churches in Hong Kong held Masses for this event.
What about attending services here today? Confession is available on Fridays. It is from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. It is also available on Sundays at 10:30 AM. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place monthly. It’s on the first Friday of each month. But this is only open to the school community.
