Today, only one store remains open on holidays. It is run by a local resident. The store still uses part of the old school’s recreational area. This offers a glimpse into the past.

Cheung Sheung Campsite itself is fairly basic. It offers tables and stools for campers. There is an outhouse for hygienic facilities. Water is available from a stream. But the supply is seasonal.

The campsite is small. It has less than 20 tent spaces. This makes it ideal for a quiet escape.

The extensive track network makes Cheung Sheung an ideal place for training trekking skills. You can follow the Cheung Sheung Country Trail. Or you can hike a section of the MacLehose Trail stage 3.

To get to Cheung Sheung Campsite, take Minibus 7 from Sai Kung Town. Get off at the Cheung Sheung Country Trail starting point. From there, follow the trail and signposts. It takes about an hour to reach the campsite.
