From this vantage point on the Birkacher Feld the panoramic view is breathtaking. The Birkacher Feld isn’t just a field. It’s a giant canvas showcasing Stuttgart’s southern landscape. Imagine standing here in 1990. The Bürger- und Kulturverein Stuttgart-Birkach had just finished creating this special spot. Three linden trees now stand proudly shading three benches. They invite weary walkers to rest and take in the view.
This elevated viewpoint on the Birkacher Feld offers unparalleled views in all four directions. It’s a perfect location for a quiet moment of reflection. Look west and see the Asemwald a dense forest dominating the horizon. Its three high-rise buildings house approximately 1700 people. They were built in 1971 and 1972.
To the south the view extends even further. On a clear day you can see the Schönbuch forest. Beyond it lies the Mössinger Rossberg mountain. The Reutlinger Alb mountains are clearly visible. Their prominent peaks are unmistakable. The Uracher Tal valley the Jusiberg mountain Hohenneuffen castle ruins and other landmarks are also visible. A granite stone in the middle of the Birkacher Feld provides detailed information about the panoramic vista.
Looking east you might make out the Augustinum residential care home in Riedenberg. The Kernen village nestled in the Schurwald forest is nearby. Northward your gaze sweeps across Schönberg reaching as far as Stuttgart’s television tower. For an even better northern view ascend to the 20th floor of Block A in the Asemwald. Use the elevator even if you don’t plan to visit the height restaurant or indoor swimming pool.
The Birkacher Feld is 65 hectares of agricultural land. It borders the Birkach district of Stuttgart. Recently a new daycare center was built here. It replaced an older facility. This new building can accommodate 70 children. The architects D Inka Scheible Hoffmann Lewald designed it. They carefully positioned the building to preserve the existing trees. The spacious playground now opens onto the Birkacher Feld. It’s a testament to thoughtful planning. A place where children play with the breathtaking view always in sight.
