Welcome to Church on the Move. Here differences are not just tolerated. They are celebrated. This church is multicultural and multiethnic. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents gather here. People from all economic backgrounds worship together. This diversity reflects God’s creativity. It shows that He made each of us unique. Something special happens here. It transcends political ideologies, ethnic identities, and cultural affinities.
Church on the Move aspires to live out the teachings of Jesus. It is a place where everyone can feel at home. One member named Cameron said that they didn’t know a soul when they moved here. Now as part of the Church on the Move, they have found not only friends, but family.
Church on the Move meets at Capital Turnaround. This renovated historic building sits at the intersection of Capitol Hill, Navy Yard, and the DC Riverfront. Sunday services take place in a state-of-the-art auditorium. It seats 1,000 people. NCC Kids meets down the hall. They have their own theater for worship. It also has the largest indoor playground in DC. Friendly greeters are always available. They can help you find your way around. If you are new, visit Dock 1 near the 7th Street entrance after the service. There is a gift for you. The members would love to meet you.
Sunday services last about 90 minutes here at Church on the Move. You can join in joyful worship. The stellar worship team leads it. Or you can sit back and listen. You will hear a Bible-based message. Pastor Mark Batterson or another team member delivers it. You can receive prayer after the service. You will also have the chance to meet people and connect. Before the service, stop by the lobby. Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. Church on the Move proudly serves custom-ground coffee from its own coffeehouse, Ebenezers.
NCC Kids check-in begins 15 minutes before the service. You will receive a security badge. After the service, pick up your child. Present your matching security badge at their room. Every NCC Kids worker has been carefully screened and trained.
There are loving volunteers. They provide a supervised and engaging environment for babies and infants. Even babies can learn how much God loves them. The preschool program is interactive. Children learn about God through Bible stories, games, and crafts. Elementary-aged children participate in interactive worship. They also learn key principles. They include making wise choices. They learn to trust God. They learn to treat others with respect.
Teens in NCC Youth experience community, worship, and engaging messages. Devoted adult leaders invest in the youth. They commit for the entire school year. They undergo training, background checks, and interviews.
National Community Church knows that DC traffic and parking can be challenging. Arrive 20 minutes early. That gives yourself time to park and get settled. The building entrances are on 7th Street and L Street.
Consider taking the Metro. The Green Line to Navy Yard-Ballpark is an option. Walk east on M Street. Or take the Blue, Orange, or Silver Lines to the Eastern Market station. Walk south along 7th Street. Several bus stops are also close to the campus.
If driving, take I-695. Exit at the “6th Street SE” exit. Merge onto Virginia Avenue SE. Turn right onto 7th Street SE. Look for the welcome flags and parking team. The parking team will help you find a spot. Attended free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is in the lot at 7th Street and Virginia Avenue. There is also free parking under the highway on 8th Street SE. Street parking on L Street, 7th Street, and 8th Street is free on Sundays.
