Behold The Mark a striking glass tower that rises 27 stories high. It stands proudly in Sydney’s Chippendale. This is a residential apartment complex in Central Park.

The Mark is more than just a building. It is a statement of modern living. It’s part of the Central Park redevelopment project. This project transformed a 15-hectare industrial site. The boundaries are O’Connor Street Carlton Street Broadway and Chippendale Way. The Central Park redevelopment delivered 1426 apartments. The Mark covers 24000 square meters. Construction began in September 2011. It finished in August 2014.

Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia jointly developed Central Park. Johnson Pilton Walker designed it. Watpac was the contractor. The Mark is divided into Mark One and Mark Two. Mark One includes levels 1-19. These are mainly one and two-bedroom apartments. Mark Two is levels 20-27. These have two and three-bedroom units.

Buyers could customize their apartments. They could choose from 24 color combinations. These interiors allowed residents to truly “make their own mark”.

The Mark boasts several features. There is a rooftop deck with a spa lawn and terrace. Residents can relax in the lounge room. Wireless internet and a reading room are available. There is even a pocket park for a quick nature escape. Each apartment has a loggia. These can be opened to natural ventilation and sunlight. Fingertip-controlled sliding glass panels make it easy.

The Mark incorporates sustainability. A sustainability team was formed. It included experienced consultants and committed subcontractors. An on-site trigeneration plant reduces carbon emissions. A recycled water treatment plant minimizes water demand. It collects rainwater stormwater groundwater and sewage. It also uses backwash from pools and spas. The recycled water is used for toilet flushing irrigation washing machines and the mechanical plant. Sub-meters and smart meter panels are in each apartment. Environment-friendly materials were used. The apartments have high water and energy-rated appliances. Training sessions were provided to staff clients and subcontractors.

The Mark stands on the old Kent Brewery site. Heritage consultants worked to preserve the site’s history. Thirty-three heritage items were retained. These include the tiled arch at Kent Road terraces warehouses and three hotels. The brewery yard buildings brick stack and administration building were restored.

The Mark has received accolades. It won the High-Density Development category of the UDIA NSW 2015 Awards. It was shortlisted in the Design and Innovation category.

The Mark is a testament to innovative design sustainability and community. It is a landmark in Sydney’s urban landscape. It represents a new chapter in city living.
