Many residents claimed German ancestry. About 21.7% were of German descent. English ancestry was claimed by 11.9%. Irish ancestry was 8.8%. Norwegian and American ancestries were 6.8% and 5.6% respectively. These figures come from Census 2000.
Of the 2,355 households 36.4% had children under 18. About 70.6% were married couples. Female householders with no husband present accounted for 8.6%. Non-families comprised 17.6%. Individuals made up 13.2% of all households. 5.0% had someone 65 years or older living alone. The average household size was 2.83. The average family size was 3.09.
The age distribution in Lake Shore was varied. Around 27.7% were under 18. People aged 18 to 24 made up 6.4%. Those aged 25 to 44 accounted for 26.1%. Residents aged 45 to 64 were 29.4%. About 10.4% were 65 years or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males.
The median household income was $62,476. The median family income was $66,217. Males had a median income of $48,716. Females had $35,300. The per capita income for the CDP was $27,008. Around 3.6% of families and 3.3% of the population were below the poverty line. This included 3.9% of those under 18 and 6.4% of those 65 or over.
