The real estate company Atrium Ljungberg made construction possible. They provided the site allocation Södermalm 7:87 for the Nobelhusen. Construction of a deck covering the Stadsgårdsleden waterfront road will begin. Construction work on the Nobelhusen can then start in 2025 or 2026. The estimated construction period is two years.
Currently, the Nobel Prize Museum resides in Stockholm’s Old Town. The goal is to gather public outreach activities. They strive to create a destination for tourists, residents, researchers, and students. The Nobelhusen will offer more space and accessibility. David Chipperfield Architects will design the Nobelhusen. Sweco will be the local architect. The Erling-Persson Foundation and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation will fund the construction along with the Nobel Foundation.
Construction is planned on the property Södermalm 7:87 along Stadsgårdskajen. This site was originally planned for an office building.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2027. The opening is planned for 2031.
