Nestled alongside the bustling Rodovia Anhanguera, Jordanésia has a unique story to tell. Jordanésia isn’t just a name on a map. It’s a fusion of two names, “Jordano” and “Anésia,” a tribute to the original landowners of the Penteado condominium. Before it was Jordanésia, this area was known as Santa Cruz dos Tabuões. This small settlement consisted of about 110 homes, a few businesses, and a handful of industries. The transformation began in the mid-20th century. Local residents desired a new identity for their growing community. Father Mourtinho, a key figure in the establishment of the Anchieta College in nearby Jundiaí, proposed the name Jordanésia. It perfectly blended the names of Jordano and Anésia, forever etching their mark on the district’s history. The official birth of Jordanésia happened on February 28, 1964, thanks to Law No. 8.092. Two influential figures, State Deputy Leôncio Ferraz Júnior and Legislative Assembly President Cyro Albuquerque, championed the legal and political maneuvers needed to make Jordanésia a reality. The location of Jordanésia, between kilometers 39 and 40 of the Rodovia Anhanguera, proved crucial for its growth. This major highway facilitated urban development and attracted businesses. The establishment of a food canning factory, Etti, further fueled Jordanésia’s expansion by drawing a significant workforce. Today, Jordanésia stands as a testament to its humble beginnings. It’s a vibrant district in the municipality of Cajamar, part of the bustling São Paulo Metropolitan Region. It is bordered by the municipalities of Caieiras and Franco da Rocha. This district boasts various neighborhoods, including Alpes dos Araçás, Bairro Gato Preto, and Jardim Maria Luíza. Jordanésia even has its own unit of the Cajamar Feliz Park. This park offers recreational facilities such as sports courts, walking trails, a skate park, and playgrounds. So, the next time you pass through Jordanésia, remember the story of Jordano and Anésia. Their names, woven together, symbolize the district’s journey from a modest settlement to a thriving community, a story etched alongside the constant hum of the Anhanguera.
