First mentioned in 1374, Třebotovská tvrz changed hands many times throughout the centuries. Rich townspeople from Prague and members of the lower nobility all held ownership. In the early 15th century, Oldřich Medek of Valdek transformed it into the water fortress we see today. Imagine the drawbridge lowering, its heavy chains groaning under the weight, welcoming you into another time. Yet, disaster struck in 1942, leaving the fortress ravaged by fire. For years, it lay abandoned – a silent sentinel to forgotten times. But in a twist of fate, in 2001, the Sedláček family, fueled by a desire to preserve history, purchased the decaying fortress. Their efforts breathed life back into the old stones. Today, Třebotovská tvrz stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication, a beacon of hope and a symbol of enduring strength.
