The Madonna del Mare wasn’t always as it is today. Years later in 1938 a convent was built nearby. The chapel moved to this central location. Architect Ferdinando Forlati designed the new church. It was consecrated in 1954 by Bishop Antonio Santin. The church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary under the ancient title of Stella del Mare Star of the Sea.

Since then the church has been under the care of the diocesan clergy. The transition marked a new chapter for the Madonna del Mare but its devotion to faith remains unchanged.
