Janina was born in Warsaw on January 2, 1928. Her parents were Władysław and Maria. During the German occupation, she completed her education. She went to Szkola Powszechna on Drewniana Street. She supplemented her studies with secret lessons.

From the beginning of the occupation, Janina joined the 31st Warsaw Women’s Troop of the Gray Ranks. Anna Zawadzka led her troop. Anna’s brother was Tadeusz Zawadzki. Janina was a liaison for Dr. Irena Semadeni-Konopacka. Irena was codenamed “Konstancja”. Janina helped the paratroopers. She escorted them to safe houses. She provided them with food. She maintained communication between them and “Konstancja”. As part of the Gray Ranks, she underwent military and sanitation training.

Before the Warsaw Uprising, Janina lived on Dobra 2 Street in Warsaw. During the Uprising, she served in the “Bakcyl” unit. This was the Sanitary Department of the Warsaw District of the Home Army. She was assigned to the “Kryska” group at Field Hospital No. 3. The hospital was located on Okrąg 2 Street. She fought on Górny Czerniaków. Janina was wounded on September 19, 1944. She got hurt on Wilanowska Street. Janina’s father also fought in the Warsaw Uprising. He was an officer in the VIII Group of the Home Army “Bicz”. They fought in the “Krybar” Combat Group in Powiśle.

After the Warsaw Uprising, Janina left the city with the wounded. After the war, she lived in Gdańsk. She graduated from the Faculty of Hydrology and Oceanography. She studied at the Gdańsk University of Technology. She also studied at the Higher School of Pedagogy in Gdańsk. After marrying, she returned to Warsaw. She worked at the Head Headquarters of the Polish Scouting Association. She also worked at the Institute of Pedagogy. Later, she worked at the Institute of Science Policy and Higher Education. She obtained a doctorate. Then, she became an associate professor.

Janina received the Cross of the Home Army. She also received the Warsaw Uprising Cross. After marriage, she took the name Janina Dymecka. Janina died in Warsaw. She is buried in Powązki Cemetery.
