Mon How integrated into the local Chinese community. He joined the Wesleyan Methodist church.

He married Ellen Tootong in 1899. She was a skilled dress maker.

In 1901, a fire broke out in Mon How’s store. The store faced financial difficulties. Mon How branched out into mining operations.

These men from different backgrounds share a name. Au Fung-Chi, Fong Mon How and Hiu-Fung Au. Each left their mark on history.
