On a crisp autumn morning in 1983, a small group of families gathered in Northern Virginia. They shared a dream: to build a vibrant Muslim community. This dream took root, blossoming into the All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center, affectionately known as the ADAMS Center. The ADAMS Center isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the power of community, faith, and service. From its humble beginnings, the ADAMS Center has grown to become one of the largest Muslim communities in the Washington, D.C. area, serving a wide swathe of Northern Virginia, including Sterling, Ashburn, and Herndon. The ADAMS Center pulsates with life. It offers a rich tapestry of programs, from weekend schools for children and youth to adult education at the Qurtuba Institute. The Radiant Hearts Academy, the Center’s own school, nurtures young minds from pre-K to third grade. The ADAMS Center isn’t just focused on inward growth. It actively engages in interfaith dialogue and community outreach, bridging divides and fostering understanding. It exemplifies its commitment to service through initiatives like the ADAMS Food Pantry, offering sustenance and support to those in need. The ADAMS Center even hosts citizenship classes, helping new community members navigate the path to civic belonging. During Ramadan, the holy month of fasting and prayer, the ADAMS Center’s multiple locations overflow with worshippers, with over 5,000 people gathering for Taraweeh prayers. The air hums with devotion, a testament to the Center’s vital role in the spiritual lives of so many. Beyond its impressive size and diverse programming, the ADAMS Center’s strength lies in its people. A dedicated staff of 25 manages the day-to-day operations. An elected Executive Committee oversees the organization. A 13-member Board of Trustees ensures the Center’s continued growth and adherence to its core values of education, community development, and service.
