This name paid homage to an old brick factory that once operated in the area.
The Escola Estadual Professor Armando Gaban was one of five new schools founded in Osasco that day. It was a time of significant growth, and Governor Paulo Salim Maluf recognized the increasing demand for education. The decree establishing the school was published in the Diário Oficial do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo on April 6, 1979. The school initially served elementary school students. Later, due to rising population numbers, it expanded to include high school, becoming the Escola Estadual de Primeiro e Segundo Grau Professor Armando Gaban. Over time, the naming conventions for schools in São Paulo changed. The school then adopted its current, more concise name: Escola Estadual Professor Armando Gaban.
Interestingly, the Escola Estadual Professor Armando Gaban’s name has a story of its own. The school wasn’t always named after Professor Armando Gaban. It received its current name on March 23, 1982. This change was thanks to a proposal by State Deputy Carlos Zuppo. His Project Law 3252, published in the Diário Oficial do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo on March 25, 1982, forever linked the school with this esteemed professor.
